The
Lord Whisky Sanctuary Fund was named after a little Jack Russell
whose history and character inspired the creation of the trust.
Lord Whisky lived with the founder and her family for most of his
22 years.
The Lord Whisky
Sanctuary Fund not only cares for dogs and cats but also a variety
of other animals: horses, goats, rabbits, fowl, and in more recent
years, wildlife casualties including foxes, badgers, hedgehogs,
and birds, and hopes eventually to have its own hospital. The official
aims of the trust are:
- To provide
sanctuaries in areas where they are needed.
- To provide
sanctuary until suitable homes are found.
- To provide
permanent sanctuary where necessary.
- The Fund
does not agree with taking life because the right home cannot
be found, but only with ending life with dignity if an animal
is in pain due to irreversible illness.
- To provide
free or part payment for veterinary treatment at our discretion.
The aims are
adhered to without exception, the interest of each individual animal
is our primary concern. Expediency is never a consideration and
each animal is welcome to stay in our care for as long as it takes
for that special home to come. We make no apology for looking for
the right homes for each animal and not animals for people. This
does, of course, work to the advantage of the new owner.
